Disease Control

Your Stow lawn and turf diseases occur when the weather favors disease development.  Hot and humid weather greatly contribute to disease.

Moisture in your lawn can also contribute to ideal conditions for disease growth.  We recommend watering your lawn in the morning during the summer so the sun and wind have the opportunity to dry the excess moisture.  Watering in the late afternoon can accelerate the conditions for lawn disease growth.

Fortunately, lawn diseases can be treated.  In some cases the application of lawn fertilizer can provide the grass the necessary nutrients needed to outgrow the disease.  However the best method of controlling lawn disease is to decrease the amount of watering times and cut grass to right length during the susceptible times of year.

The ideal length of grass in your Stow lawn should be 3-1/2″.  Usually in early spring you’ll want to mow it tighter so it has a chance to dry out.  Mid summer, (the dryer months) it’s best to leave your grass a bit taller then in the fall before the snow comes, we recommend cutting it very short to avoid snow mold.

If your lawn has been overtaken by one of the common lawn diseases described below, we can treat your lawn with premium grade fungicide which will also work well to eliminate the disease in your lawn.

Below are some of the most common turf diseases that we deal with in this region.
